Communities Planning for the Future Transport Infrastructure Delivery:- • A444 Proposals - Signalisation and capacity enhancement at key junctions, e.g. Leicester Road, Bond Street, Bond Gate, Vicarage Street, Coton Arches and College Street; • NUCKLE 1 – Extension to platforms at Bedworth rail station and new stations at Coventry Arena and Bermuda Park; and • Bermuda Bridge – opening bridge to road users.
Communities Bermuda Transport Bridge Feasibility Study • The Bridge - Built in 1974 and owned by WCC; • Developer / Section 106 Agreement (Cycle Way); • The Study Partnership; • JMP Consultants Ltd; • Recommendation: Opening the bridge to road users, in conjunction with complementary measures to mitigate the impact on the local highway network, would present substantial benefits to the local community; and • The proposed Bermuda Connectivity Project is born.
Communities Bermuda Connectivity Project • Improvements to the bridge over the A444 and connection to the Highway; • Opening the bridge to all traffic in conjunction with the following measures to mitigate the impact on the local highway network; – Enhancements to Heath End Road / Bermuda Road junction; – Enhancements to Griff Roundabout at the St Georges Way exit; and – Enhancements on St Georges Way including the provision of a cycleway. • Provision of additional car parking for Bermuda Park Rail Station off St Georges Way; and • Enhancement of the existing shared use cycle / pedestrian only link off Barling Way (for access to EPIC and George Eliot Hospital).

Communities Bermuda Connectivity Project Benefits for the local community:- The implementation of the Project will:- • Enhance access to existing and future employment in order to stimulate job creation and economic growth; • Substantially enhance access to Bermuda Park rail station; • Provide a sustainable link between Heath End Road and Griff Roundabout; • Improve links to College Street roundabout and Coton Arches by contributing towards reducing congestion in this area; and • Improve links to existing and future residential areas.
Communities Bermuda Connectivity Project Estimated Costs:- • Capital Cost – £5.7 million (including risk and contingency); • Benefit Cost Ratio – 6.0 :1 (every £1 spent delivering the project would produce £6 worth of benefits) Initial Endorsement:- The delivery of the Project has cross party political support.
Communities Bermuda Connectivity Project Future Milestones:- • Getting funding in place to potentially deliver the Project; • Detailed Design; • Consultation; • Formal Political Approval; • Planning; and • Construction It is possible that the Project could be completed by March 2016.
