Technology will be integrated into all 4 subjects. We will not be on the computer all day but will have opportunities to use the computers for practice, creating projects and building community through inquiry learning. The main platform we will be using is Google Classroom. Students in 3 rd grade are one-to-one with computers. - - Typing skills will be practiced throughout the year. Effort: The amount of hard work you put into something. Making a serios attempt at completing something to the best of your ability. 4 – Exceeds – You followed the criteria for completing your project. You worked independently. Your work is everything a “meets” project is, but you have put in additional work, creating an excellent final product. 3 – Meets – You followed the criteria for completing your project. You worked independently and only needed minimal assistance. Your work meets the expectations for a standard grade level project. 2 – Approaches – You followed some of the criteria for completing your project. You needed great deal of assistance to complete your project. Your work does not meet the expectations for a standard grade level project. 1 – Emergent – You followed a minimum or none of the criteria for completing your project. You needed help with the entire project Your work does not meet the expectations for a standard grade level project. 12

Organization • Students are responsible for keeping their classroom and backpack organized. • Students are responsible for keeping their academic planner up to date. Homework is written on the first day of the week and last day of the week. Study Skills • Students are being taught that studying is not just looking at the book. • Studying is an activity that requires effort. 15

We will go outside twice a day, so please dress your child appropriately for the weather. 17

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends: • Stay home a least 24 hours after no longer having a fever, or signs of a fever without fever-reducing medicines. • Encourage students to wash hands and keep their hands to themselves. 18

Cupcakes, candy, and/or any other edible food items will not be allowed. Our teachers are committed to recognizing your students’ special days and will be providing students a menu of items from which to choose to celebrate their birthdays. These items may include and would not be limited to choices such as pajama day for the whole class, the opportunity to sit in a special chair for the day or an invitation for a special guest to read to the class. In addition, our PTA has generously agreed to provide a birthday pencil for every student on their birthday (or half-birthday for summer birthdays). 19
