Radical NEW ideas! Syndication Positioning Tech Overwhelm Guesting
Positioning
• Positioning yourself as an expert – you HAVE to get out there – and STAND OUT • It is hard to have original content but it is not hard to have an original perspective • In order to be seen to have expertise in an area (or ‘niche’) you’ll need to COMMUNICATE!
KNOW LIKE TRUST
• Set up your email/blog and support it with YouTube. • Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn • Don’t forget about . . .
• Quora is an online forum that positions you INSTANTLY as an expert as you answer questions in your niche. • Barak Obama uses it, Richard Branson and more.
But the trick is that you must link from your “helpful answer” directly to FB and your YouTube/ podcast.
2) Guesting to build your reach • Guest on blogs and podcasts – parlay other blog/podcast appearances . . . • “I appeared on so and so’s show/podcast/blog and it did really well (quantify), so you need to feature me!”
• Syndication – it solidly positions you as THE GO- TO expert and is worth £1000’s in ad-spend. • Target blogs etc. that are highly targeted to YOUR specialism or area of expertise or passion!
• Remember – influential BIG media outlets are content scoffers • They need ongoing content (because it keeps their sites fresh • This attracts greater viewers and thus gains more ad-spend and they will welcome your approach . . . How do you find editors? • BUT . . .
• Google it people! e.g. “How to contribute to Huffington Post” • Once you get published once – and get LOTS of likes and shares . . . Then you can contact the editor and suggest that you write a regular column for them.
4) Tech Overwhelm? • You don’t need to be a techie . . Back in the day Steve Jobs needed a Steve Wozniak! • Not nowadays – there are so many tools.
Your action plan What are YOU going to do right now to build your business?
