Current Projects ● Restructuring the Bike Share Program ○ We are looking to find ways to make the program more sustainable while expanding it to meet student needs. ● Expanding the Career Closet ○ Over the past year we have had a large increase in donations and we want to make that more available to students. ● 24-Hour Study Lounge ○ At the end of each semester we host this program to give students the opportunity to study throughout the night in classrooms in Jamrich.
Completed Projects ● Student Voter Initiatives ○ Mobile Secretary of State office came to campus and helped to register 162 students to vote. ○ ASNMU sponsored a shuttle to help get students to the polls. ● SRA Student Feedback ○ ASNMU held two booths at the Northern Lights Dining hall to help educate students on the SRA and help them provide comments. ● Mental Health Needs Assessment Survey ○ Asked students a variety of questions about current and future thoughts on mental health here on campus. Results will be forwarded to the Mental Health Task Force for review and analysis.
Future Projects ● Walk Through History with ASNMU ○ Working with the NMU Archives, we have a group working on collecting information on the history of ASNMU which we hope to share with students next semester. ● 1UP Conference ○ This year will be third year for the conference and Lake Superior State University will be hosting the conference. ● ASNMU Elections ○ With a large turnout last year we hope to replicate the same enthusiasm! ○ We will be looking at amending our Constitution to better reflect down campus and making sure students that live there are adequately represented.
United Student Governments Conference ● Hosted by Central Michigan University ● 10 public universities in attendance ○ U.P. Representation included ASNMU and Lake Superior State University. ● Breakout sessions included topics on: ○ Student engagement, mental health on campus, higher education funding, sustainability on campus, civic engagement, and programs that provided free feminine hygiene products on campus. ● ASNMU hosted a breakout session discussing how sustainability is a part of our identity as a university. ○ Highlighted the Sustainability Advisory Council, EcoReps, and Food Recovery Network.
General Comments ● Wildcat Statue Dedication ○ Students enjoy the new statue and we are grateful to have been a part of the event. ● College of Arts and Science Dean Interviews ○ 3-4 representatives met with each candidate and spoke about NMU and our students. ● NMU Mobile App ○ Has been a great success and have received a lot of positive feedback. ● Winter and Spring Commencement Speakers ○ ASNMU is grateful for the opportunity to be involved in these opportunities and we had another successful year of selecting speakers.
