GAD and MDD • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is the most commonly occurring anxiety disorder • Major depressive disorder (MDD) is likewise the most common of the mood disorders • 255 possible ‘versions’ of MDD, 42 of GAD – 793 different possible comorbid presentations • One-year comorbidity = .62 ( Kessler et al., 2005 )
Participants • 37 Individuals with DSM-based GAD and/or MDD – 17 GAD (46%) – 14 comorbid GAD + MDD (38%) – 6 MDD (16%) – 17 w/ comorbid Social Anxiety Disorder (46%) • Mean age = 34.89 (13.29) • 26 Women (70%), 11 Men (30%) • 41% White (15), 30% Asian/Asian-American (11), 16% Latino (6), 5% African-American (2), 8% Other (3)
