  3. Form of organization: cooperative � Members: ORF (Austrian broadcasting corporation) and 15 Austrian daily newspapers � Mandate: promotional tasks to serve members. A 24 hour on-line operation is used to simultaneously provide the news to all members for compensation and in according to standard guidelines. � APA also provides its services to non-members. 3

Mission Statement: Strength based on independence � APA, as the Austrian news agency, is an integrated information business company, providing news, information and IT services to both media and political institutions, as well as to corporations. � APA fulfils its tasks according to the principles of reliability, speed, and balanced information, as well as studiously avoiding one-sidedness and partiality, and works independently from the state, the government, and the political parties. � As Austria’s leading information service group, APA is one of only ~ 20 news agencies worldwide, which function independently from the state and the government. 5
