All languages are offered for four years, Spanish is offered for up to 7 years  AP Spanish 4 is AP Spanish Language.  AP Spanish 5 is AP Spanish Literature.  French 3 and French 4 are honors courses.  Spanish for Careers is an honors course.  Italian 4 is an honors course.  ASL provides college credit.

  13. The German American Partnership Program (GAPP) VHS’ German program includes an annual German-American cultural and academic exchange.

  14. ASL (American Sign Language)  Ventura High has partnered with Ventura College to offer a 3-unit college credit ASL course.  Credit from the course offers both college and high school credit to high school students and meets the A-G requirements.

  15. Seal of Multi-Literacy Beginning with the class of 2009, students have earned Multilingual Recognition Seal on their diploma. To earn this recognition, they: completed 4 years of instruction in the same foreign language with • a grade of “B” or higher in the fourth year, or completed the fourth year of a foreign language with a grade of • “B” or higher, or passed an Advanced Placement Test with a score of 3 or higher by • their junior year, or passed a district foreign language test at the proficient level or • above. Since the seal’s inception in 2009, Over 150 students have graduated multilingual from VHS. Over 30 of them qualified for the seal in two foreign languages.
