What is WIRE? WIRE is a working group of Informatics Europe, aiming to raise awareness and promote good practice with respect to women in Informatics. Minerva Award The Minerva Award is an annual prize recognizing and celebrating good practice. Made to a department or faculty that can demonstrate benefits to female staff and students through implemented policies. Nominations are sought in the spring each year and the award is presented at ECSS each year. Supported by Google who provide the prize of 5000 euros for the winning department.
Minerva Award On a three year cycle the award focuses on different stages of the career pipeline: Developing the careers of female faculty, including retention and promotion. Support the transition for PhD and postdoctoral researchers into faculty positions. Encouraging female students to enrol in Computer Science/Informatics programmes. At each stage the nomination must include information of what has been done and what impact it has achieved.
Minerva Award 2018 The 2018 Award will focus on: Encouraging female students to enrol in Computer Science/Informatics programmes. The call will be launched in January 2018, with a deadline for nominations on 1st June 2018. The chair of the judging panel for 2018 will be Prof Panagiota Fatourou from the University of Crete.

Help contribute to the list of potential female speakers for conferences (on paper or on line) Consult the booklet on good practice for the careers of Women in Informatics Nominate your own department and/or encourage other departments in your country to nominate themselves for the Minerva Award Send female students in your department to WomENcourage 2018…
