Supervisors’ Professional Learning Community Zoom Session #2 - April 22, 2020 AGENDA: - Review agreements & Zoom review - A Mindful Moment - Announcements & community updates - HR review & responses - Points to Ponder (breakout groups) The Supervisors’ Professional Learning Community is an opportunity for program leaders to come together to exchange ideas, contribute perspectives, ask questions, and make meaning of new ideas, information, and resources. Participants will engage in a facilitated dialogue model in small groups thinking through the lens of the Supervisor as a pedagogical leader for their team.

  2. Supervisors’ Professional Learning Community Agreements & Zoom Etiquette The Supervisors’ Learning Community brings leaders together as a community of learners. As a community, we have committed to a model of learning that is emergent and recognizes the value of learning together in the context of our role as leaders. We believe we are each strengthened by our connections and relationships within the community. We have committed to the process of maintaining, reviewing, and refining a set of agreements that have been developed by the learning community. The following “ways of being” establish a shared understanding amongst all participants and allows us to engage in ongoing reflection of the practices we wish to see within our PLC.   3. Zoom Reminders • Rename function. If you’d like to rename yourself, you can do that by hovering over your name in participant view and clicking more and then rename. • Mute/Unmute Audio & Video Settings • You can mute and unmute your microphone. The host also has the ability to mute you. If you click on the arrow next to the mute button, you will have additional options for audio settings. You can change your microphone, leave the computer audio, or access the audio options. • For SPLC, the host(s) will mute you on entry and if you’d like to share, you will need to raise your hand and the host will unmute you. • Your video screen will be visible unless you mute it. • Raise Hand function is available if you’d like to share with the entire group. The host will let you know when you can speak. • You can see the “raise hand” option when you open the participants view/box. • Use chatbox to “EVERYONE” or to a private individual to share (Note: You can save the discussions in the chatbox). • We will also use the CHATBOX to share files (files will also be available with notes on ASCY website). • Breakout rooms will be used and randomly assigned for smaller group discussions.

ASCY & Community Updates & Professional Learning Opportunities Surviving and Thriving through COVID-19 - “Connection is the Key” An interactive learning series hosted by ASCY with Dr. Jean Clinton Through online learning and follow-up discussions, this series focuses on the impact of COVID-19 in the lives of very young children, and provides supportive practical strategies for their parents and educators. When: Each week, beginning April 27th, ASCY will feature a recorded module. Live discussions will be hosted on Zoom on April 30th, May 7th, 14th and 21st at 7:00 p.m. Pre-register at ascy@ascy.ca . Once registered, you’ll be sent an invitation to access the modules and join in the weekly discussions. You will also be sent a reflective template to reflect and record your learning.

  6. ASCY & Community Updates & Professional Learning Opportunities Y ou will be receiving an email early next week with our May professional learning sessions. These sessions will all be done online using the Zoom platform. You will be asked to register at ascy@ascy.ca with your name, an email address, and the date and name of the session you are interested in. Once you are registered, you will receive confirmation with further instructions to sign on to your sessions. The following learning communities will be offered: School Age, Reggio Emilia, Infant, Francophone, Toddler, Preschool, Pedagogical Leadership, EarlyONs, Leadership and Supervision. Other sessions being offered are: Tools for Life Introduction, Self-Regulation Article Study, Helping Others Help Ourselves, Strategies for Preventing Burnout, an article study, CPL support with our PL consultants. REMINDER Your Professional Learning Consultants (PLCs) and Professional Resource Library staff are working remotely and are reaching out to our program sites and members to connect and provide support. We encourage you to reach out by email to your PLC to see how we can support you during this unprecedented time.
