  6. San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative § What is it? • A network for public agencies that serves the San Diego region to share expertise, leverage resources, and advance comprehensive solutions to facilitate climate change planning. By partnering with academia, non-profits, and businesses, we also work to raise the profile of regional leadership. § Who is in it? • Local jurisdictions, Port of San Diego, San Diego Regional Airport Authority, SDG&E, local universities (and others) 6

  8. San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative § Resilient Coastlines Project of Greater San Diego (2015-2018) • This project is designed to connect several local sea-level rise initiatives through a regional strategy, fill existing knowledge gaps that are barriers to resilience planning and implementation, and further engage scientific experts and community members in building coastal resilience for the San Diego region. § Supported by Sea Level Rise Working Group § Funding: 8

  9. Regional Sea-Level Rise Adaptation Guidance § Goal • Collaborate with local jurisdictions, stakeholders, and collaborative partnerships to build upon local efforts to determine potential impacts to regional transportation infrastructure and develop guidance for addressing sea-level rise and climate change impacts to these facilities. § Funding • $180,000 from Caltrans’ Adaptation Planning Grant Program (SB1) • SANDAG matching funds (staff time) § Timeline • Summer 2018-Summer 2020 9

  10. Regional Sea-Level Rise Adaptation Guidance § Tasks • SANDAG shoreline policy update recommendations • Stakeholder interviews re: lessons learned/best practices • Vulnerable regional transportation assets • Vulnerability Assessment Scoring Tool (VAST) § Round 2 SB1 grant • Adaptation “toolkit” § Policies, projects, and funding strategies at regional or local level • Two public meetings: northern and southern San Diego County 10
