  2. CEI UniNet: Concept  The Founding Charter of the “CEI University Network” was submitted to the CEI Summit of the Heads of Government in Warsaw in November 2003. The Network officially started its operations in 2004.  The CEI University Network - funded entirely by Italy - is a contribution to higher education in order to enhance cooperation among universities and institutions of higher learning in its Member States.  Carried out through mobility of students and teaching staff who are offered scholarships and grants for specific post graduate level Joint Programmes: - Master’s - PhD - Summer Schools, Seminars, Workshops 2

CEI UniNet: Structure  The CEI UniNet functions through: - Executive Board composed of 1 selected university in each CEI MS. meets every year - chaired by the Rector of the University of Trieste - General Assembly made up of Executive Board + selected universities which have participated in JPs. Meets every three years - chaired by the Rector of the University of Trieste 3

  4. JOINT PROGRAMMES: Mandatory Requirements Mandatory requirements endorsed by the CEI UniNet Executive Board A. JPs are to involve at least 2 universities from different CEI Member States; B. JPs are to fall within one of the 6 Areas of Cooperation: - Economics - Advanced Biotechnology - Regional Development and Public Administration - Infrastructure and Logistics - ICT - Environment and Sustainable Development C. The teaching language of a JP is English 4

JOINT PROGRAMMES: Priority Requirements  participation of Non-EU CEI countries: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine  mobility of students and teaching staff through Split Joint Programmes (i.e. courses held in more than one University in different countries).  perspective for EU – Project Development 5

Achievments since 2004 √ CEI UniNet has approved 87 JPs which have involved more than 100 universities (1 cancelled, 7 under implementation) √ more than 1000 Scholarship awards and Teaching Grants offered √ CEI contribution amounting to a total value of around 1 Million EUR (overall value of JPs amounting to around 7 Million EUR) 6
