DHSC adult social care national recruitment campaign ▪ Following the evaluation of the first national wave of the Every Day is Different campaign, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that funding has been approved for a second wave to run in 2019/20. ▪ Advertising will run longer in the second wave, from October to April ▪ Advertising will signpost interested applicants to www.everydayisdifferent.com where they can find out more and search for jobs

  8. #CareToRecruit During October and November we’ll be helping employers to recruit people with the right values. The campaign will include: ▪ the launch of the DHSC national recruitment campaign ▪ the importance and benefits of recruiting for values, how to get started and tips and advice from other providers ▪ tips for attracting candidates, the application and selection process ▪ how the ‘seeing potential’ and ‘ I Care…Ambassadors’ projects can help with recruitment. Workforce Development Fund ▪ Funding from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) disseminated by Skills for Care ▪ A contribution towards the costs of vocational learning ▪ Key sector priorities for the WDF 2019-20 include: ▪ £3 million of targeted funding to support new managers, existing managers, deputies and aspiring managers ▪ Enhanced funding per learner for completion of the adult care worker and lead adult care worker apprenticeship standards ▪ Find out more here Did you know that you can claim a contribution toward qualifications, such as Understanding the Safe Handling of Medication Level 2?

Changes to NMDS-SC ▪ The NMDS-SC closed on 18 July 2019 ▪ Being replaced by the Adult Social Care (ASC) Workforce Data Set ▪ The ASC Workforce Data Set will go live to new account holders once all existing NMDS-SC accounts have been successfully migrated ▪ Find out more about the new service here

  15. Update on Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) Code of Practice (expected June 2020) will explain how the LPS will work and give examples of best practice. Training around the LPS should be linked to the Code - any training delivered before spring 2020 may not meet the required standards. Skills for Care is developing a programme of support for adult social care employers including: ▪ training resources for registered managers ▪ funding to pay for training ▪ workforce guidance. Updated - Recommendations for CQC provider guide ▪ Free download aimed at providing the basics to CQC regulated providers ▪ Signposts to the relevant parts of the Skills for Care offer ▪ Update represents a more streamlined edition and is available as a single download rather than multiple sections

Free flu vaccine The NHS offers a free flue vaccine to people who are at risk of catching flu and developing serious complications, including: ▪ people who are 65 years old or over ▪ people who have certain medical conditions ▪ people who are living in long-stay residential care home or other care facility ▪ people who receive a carer’s allowance ▪ frontline health and social care staff.
