Candidate Eligibility
Who is eligible to run for the Calming alm Executive Leadership Council? interested members!! Members in Good Standing Qualifications for 1. Be between twenty-one (21) and forty (40) years specific offices: of age upon submission of application. President: 2. Be a current dues paying member of Greater TN Executive Leadership Council or an Washington Urban League (“GWUL”) by way of Executive Leadership Team of another Thursday Network (“TN”) NULYP Chapter. 4. Participate in three events* hosted by Thursday Treasurer: Network and Greater Washington Urban League ● Must have a background or at least related to community service and/or civic one (1) year professional work engagement throughout their membership tenure of experience in Finance, Accounting, or one (1) year. Auditing. 5. Participate and serve on at least one (1) Thursday Network Standing Committee, Ad-Hoc Committee, and/or Special Committee.

Key Dates & Reminders July ● July 11th - 17th - Electronic Nominations Close @ 11:59 p.m. ● July 23rd - Floor Nominations, July GBM ● July 31st - Last day to pay membership dues August ● August 11th - Last Day for Candidate Declaration Application to be received @ 11:59 p.m. EDT, and confirm GBM attendance ● August TBD - Mandatory Candidate Information Session with Dr. Lambert ● August 14th - Candidate Slate finalized and presented to GWUL CEO for verification. Campaigning Begins . ● August 19th - Meet and Greet Candidate Mixer @ 6:00 p.m. EDT ● August 20th- August GBM, Candidates Session @ 7:00 p.m. EDT; Election ballot opens at 8:00 p.m. EDT and Election ballot closes at 8:30 p.m. EDT ● August 20th- Announcement of Election Results at August General Body Meeting on or before 9:00 p.m. EDT.
Electronic Nominations – July 11th-17th Electronic nominations officially open Saturday, July 11, 2020 . Electronic nominations will be accepted until on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:59 PM. GUIDELINES: 1. Members can nominate themselves OR another member for the office. 2. All nominees will be contacted by Election Committee members to determine if they accept the nomination. 3. The Chair of the Elections Committee will add these names to the roster of candidates after reviewing each candidate’s eligibility. Floor Nominations - July 23rd, GBM Each position will be named and the Chair of the Committee will read out the eligible candidates previously nominated during the Electronic Nominations Period. Declined nominations will not be read. 1. For each office, a member must move to nominate another member for that position. An additional person must second the motion to nominate. 2. Nominated members present during the meeting will be asked to accept or decline the nomination. 3. Nominated members who were not present or who state unreadiness will be contacted by the Chair of the Election Committee by July 24, 2020 to accept or decline nomination. 4. All nominated candidates determined to be eligible for office will be added to the roster of candidates.
Candidate Information Session – Aug. TBD This session allows Greater Washington Urban League CEO, Dr. George Lambert , an opportunity to meet Executive Leadership Council (ELC) candidates to discuss the relationship between Thursday Network (TN) and the Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL). The Mandatory Candidate Session is an opportunity for ELC candidates to receive information about election protocols and procedures.

2019 - 2020 Executive Board Positions
President The President of Thursday Network shall: 1. Preside at all meetings of TN and all meetings of the Executive Board at which he/she is present and shall have powers over all aspects of the business, management, and operations of TN in accordance within bylaws 2. Serve on the Executive Committee of the affiliate (GWUL) Board of Directors 3. Serve as the official representative of Thursday Network to the NULYP, GWUL, NUL, and the general public 4. Serve as spokesperson for Thursday Network in all instances 5. Represent TN and participate fully in all NULYP and Eastern Region of NULYP activities, meetings and conference calls
President (cont.) The President of Thursday Network shall: 6. Develop with the Vice-President and Executive Board a strategic plan at the start of the term to include goals for each Standing Committee and Officer 7. Ensure all programs, events and activities of Thursday Network reflect/are aligned with the mission, goals, and initiatives of the GWUL, NUL and NULYP 8. Develop monthly agendas for the meetings of the Executive Board 9. Submit monthly President’s reports for inclusion in the agenda of each regular meeting of the Executive Board
Vice-President The Vice President of Thursday Network shall: 1. At the request of the President, or in the absence or disability of the President, perform all the duties and may exercise all the powers of the President 2. Monitor, coordinate, and supervise the activities of each standing committee 3. Provide program support to and maintain efficiency of the activities of the Standing Committees 4. Maintain the internal calendar of Thursday Network 5. Assist the President in creating and executing a strategic plan and goal setting for each committee 6. As Vice-President-Elect, coordinate and execute the annual Executive Board Retreat during the time period between Annual Elections and the beginning of the Executive Board term 7. Submit monthly Vice-President’s reports for inclusion in the agenda of each regular meeting of the Executive Board
Secretary The Secretary shall: 1. Act as secretary of all meetings of TN and the Executive Board 2. Cause proper records of all Network and Executive Board meetings to be made 3. Have supervision over the giving and serving of notices of TN 4. Have general supervision over the care and custody of the valuable effects, including memorabilia, of TN and shall deposit the same or cause the same to be deposited in the name of TN in such depositories as the Executive Board may designate 5. Perform the duties usually incident to the Office of Secretary 6. Chair the TN Hospitality Committee 7. Manage the TN Post Office mailbox and applicable info email accounts
Treasurer The Treasurer shall: 1. Deal with the funds of TN while also consulting the Greater Washington Urban League’s chief financial officer on TN’s fiscal matters 2. Deposit the same or cause the same to be deposited in the name of TN in such depositories as the Executive Board may designate 3. Have the supervision over and cause to be kept accounts of all receipts, disbursements, and other business transactions of TN 4. On a monthly basis, render or cause to be rendered financial statements of TN 5. Have the power and perform the duties usually incident to the Office of Treasurer 6. Submit monthly Treasurer’s reports for inclusion in the agenda of each regular meeting of the Executive Board
