  7. State of the League 2019 Accomplishments ● Year-round women’s soccer ○ Fall, Winter (two sessions), and Summer ● 2019 Charity Tournament for Like A Girl ○ 14 teams ○ 162 players ○ $6,500 raised ● 1,301 players in 2019 ○ An increase of 86 players over 2018! ● MWSL day with MNUFC

Sportsmanship and Player Conduct ● MWSL is an amateur league ○ Goal is to have fun ○ Want our players to stay safe ● Unsportsmanlike behavior is not tolerated ○ Red Cards in MWSL may mean multiple game suspensions (i.e.- violent conduct or referee dissent). ● Rules and Regulations are in place for a reason ○ Player and member insurance ○ Player and referee safety

We Want You! ● Over the past couple of seasons we’ve identified specific tasks that we need your help with. ● These tasks are not linked to any one specific position but rather a way to become more involved in the league and gain further experience as part of a volunteer organization. ● Email info@mwsl.org for additional details

  13. We Want You! ● Field Relations ○ Connections to schools, cities, community centers, colleges, etc. so we can utilize their fields ○ Availability, especially during the summer, during the day to secure fields and answer questions ○ Assist Field and Schedule Coordinator as necessary

We Want You! ● Website Administration ○ Available to troubleshoot and handle technical issues with our website and software ○ Stay aware and up to date with software updates and changes, relaying this info to the board ○ Assist in populating website with information and keeping things current as needed

  15. We Want You! ● Social Media ○ Available to have a more regular presence on Facebook ○ Ability to conceptualize a plan/schedule for social media ○ Assist the marketing/growth committee

  16. We Want You! ● Partnership and Recruiting ○ Communication to current teams ○ Reaching out to clubs, college teams, and other organizations to recruit players. ○ Connections to outside organizations that we could leverage their partnership or member base ○ Assist marketing/growth committee

Board and Committees ● The MWSL operates under a board and committees. ○ Six officers have specified roles and emails they monitor related to their position. ○ At-large members support the board as a whole and help where needed. ○ All members have voting powers and serve at least a one year term. ● Monthly board meetings ● Attendance and commitments are purposefully kept flexible as we are all volunteers.

  18. Committees ● Time commitment and responsibilities of committee members are generally less than board members ● Committee leaders often schedule meetings on an as-needed basis ● Committee members are not required to attend board meetings

Marketing/Growth Committee ● Focuses on the branding and promotion of the MWSL in order to provide a meaningful experience for both current and new members. ● Members recently refreshed the MWSL brand with a new logo, swag, messaging, and other promotional items in late 2018. ● Contact committee lead Kim Edelman – kimedelman68@gmail.com for more info.

How to Get Involved ● Become a board member ○ Officer ○ At-large member ○ Position descriptions on MWSL website ● Join a committee ● Volunteer at the Charity Tournament ● Attend a board meeting ● Joining the MWSL Board or a committee is what you make of it. We have tasks and on-going projects to fit nearly every level of time commitment and difficulty.

Summer Team Registration Online Team Registration – Deadline: April 11th ● Opens today March 14th ● Register for the appropriate division ● 11 v 11 format ● Full team registration fee of $300 due upon registration ● If you are a returning team, but with a new name, notify MWSL ● Register your team by visiting www.mwsl.org and clicking on the registration link on the homepage

  24. Summer Team Registration REMINDER Make sure to register your team for the correct division based on the division description, not based on nights of play. The MWSL Board reserves the right to assign a team to a division.

  25. Summer Team Registration Online Team Registration – Deadline: April 11th ● Team fees and performance bond due... May 1 st for D2, D3, D4 and Rec ○ May 15 th for D1 ○ ● Failure to pay team fees charged by the league and performance bond by deadline will result in a weekly late fee. ● If payment is not received by first game, the team will be removed from the schedule. Any games that take place during that time will be considered a forfeit in the standings.

  26. Summer Player Registration Online Player Registration – Deadline: June 30th ● Once the team is verified by the MWSL, managers are responsible for sending player registration invites to their players via TeamConnect. ● Each player must register under a team. You cannot register under a secondary team or as a “free agent.” ● Players must pay the $26 player fee during registration and upload an acceptable photo for their player pass. ● Players will not be permitted to play without registering and providing a photo for their electronic player pass. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  27. Looking for Players, Looking for a Team? ● The MWSL Facebook page and Facebook group are great places to find players for your team, or find a team looking for players. ● The board can try and help reach out to connect players and teams, but that is not always a guarantee. ● https://www.facebook.com/groups/100700165326/

Fees and Fines ● Team Registration Fee: $300 ● Player Registration Fee: $26 ● Performance Bond: $300 ○ Check with MWSL Treasurer to see if you’ve had money carry over from last summer ● Fines: ○ Refer to the updated Fees and Fines document on our website ○ Fines are deducted from your performance bond. If your performance bond is depleted, teams have 7 days to replenish it, otherwise future games will be cancelled.

  29. Fees and Fines Referee Fees ● 2020 Fees ○ 3 Referees - $210/game or $105/team ○ 2 Referees - $150/game or $75/team ○ 1 Referee - $90/game or $45/team ● No increase over 2019

  30. Fields Scheduling Fields ● MWSL will continue to schedule fields for teams unless you secure your own. ○ If the MWSL schedules your team a field, your team is responsible for the cost. ○ As soon as the schedule is completed, we send payment to the fields so your team is responsible for the cost regardless if you obtain other fields. ● Teams may indicate preferences for home fields and we’ll try to make accommodations where we can. No guarantees.
