2019 CTC Selection Process To be as consistent & fair as possible Personal interview via a Selection Review Board (“Boards”) Number of cadets who may attend Boards based on squadron size The CO identifies who from 604 will attend Selection Boards ACL allows one additional candidate per course at Boards (excluding IACE) IACE – 1 AO – 1 + 1 PPS – 4 +1 AM – 1 + 1 GPS – 4 + 1 AA – 1 + 1 Boards will be held Sat 16 Feb 2019 in Innisfail, AB
2019 CTC Selection Process A cadet must earn the opportunity to participate in the NSTC Selection for participation in NSTC is based on individual merit of the cadet Except in circumstances where safety may be an issue, every Air Cadet meeting scholarship criteria has the opportunity to be considered for NSTC Cadets who receive National Summer Training offers are expected to maintain their membership in good standing with good attendance and performance; failure to so, or significant changes in medical condition, can result in offer being withdrawn

International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) To promote friendship and goodwill amongst Air Cadets of the participating countries To encourage participants to develop an interest in international affair Intended for outstanding senior cadets who will represent Canada with distinction
International Exchange Selection requirements include: outstanding Air cadet record, good school record, excellent personal characteristics including grooming, dependability, cooperation and the ability to communicate effectively. Duration: TBA (2-3 weeks depending on country) Maximum number of candidates: One per sqn Requirements: Level 4 successfully completed by the application date Must be 17 or 18 during the exchange More info at: www.iacea.com
International Exchange Costs : The cadet is responsible for the follow costs IACE Uniform ($400) Passport Immunizations Luggage Spending money Gifts Families for whom the above is a hardship may apply to SSC for partial relief consideration
Power Pilot Scholarship Develop, train and obtain a power pilots licence.
Glider Pilot Scholarship Develop, train and obtain a glider pilots licence.
Power and Glider Pilot Duration : • PPS: 7 weeks – 30 June – 16/17 August 2019 • GPS: 6 weeks – 7 July – 16/17 August 2019 Requirements: Motivation Sincere interest in learning to fly Commit to the demanding study time interest in contributing as future pilots or instructors to the cadet flying programs
Power and Glider Pilot Minimum age : PPS: 17 years old by 1 Sept 2019 GPS: 16 years old by 1 Sept 2019 Sqn proficiency level: PPS: level 4 completed by the end of the current training year GPS: level 3 completed by the end of the current training year
Power and Glider Pilot CF Qualifying Exam: The purpose is to ensure that all candidates possess a basic knowledge in the required aviation subjects. Minimum 60% in Alberta Counts for 30% of your Boards score Education: PPS: completed Grade 10 by nomination deadline GPS: completed Grade 9 by nomination deadline Minimum medical standards: A valid Transport Canada Category 3 Medical Certificate to be on record by end May 2019 • Canadian Aviation Medical Examiner, $175, lasts 5 years • Copy Lt Dunnill Jones ASAP
Power Pilot Physical Limitations CATO 51-01 Annex B, Point 46o: The training aircraft used for the PPS impose certain physical limitationswith respect to weight and size ofthe pilot. Therefore, the student pilot’s size must promotecomfortable positioning in the cockpit with good visibility in all directions as well as being able to reach the controls for full movement. The maximum weight (in cadet PT gear, no shoes/boots,socks only) for a student pilot is111.13 kg (245 lbs).

The physical limitations are (in cadet PT gear, no shoes/boots,socks only): Power – maximum weight 111.13 kg (245 lbs) Glider – Minimum: • height 152.4 cm (no shoes/boots, socks only) • weight 40.82 kg – Maximum: • height 190.5 cm • weight 90.72 kg
Power and Glider Pilot Required Funds: When reporting for training, cadets must have the funds to cover the following costs: • PPS : Transport Canada Examination fee and Private Pilot Licence application fee, for an approximate total of $160; students requiring Transport Canada Examination rewrite must pay a 2 nd time to do so • GPS : Transport Canada Examination fee and Glider Pilot License application fee, for an approximate total of $160; students requiring Transport Canada Examination rewrite must pay a 2 nd time to do so

IACE, Power and Glider Pilot NOTE: Applicants may apply for only one of IACE, PPS or GPS. At the COs discretion, applicants may also apply for Airport Operations, Aircraft Maintenance or Advanced Aerospace.

Advanced Aerospace (AASC) This course provides cadets Activities include: an opportunity to develop Instructional techniques as a specialist with skills First Aid and subject matter knowledge required to be Astronomy an instructor and team Orbital Mechanics leader for aerospace activities within the Air Model Rocketry Cadet program. Duration: 6 weeks – Dates TBA Location: St Jean, Quebec Sqn proficiency level: Level 3 successfully completed by the end of the current training year
