COA OVERVIEW q The CoA is a 32-member body representing a broad array of constituencies. q The CoA is responsible for formulating, promulgating, and implementing accreditation policies, procedures, and criteria for the accreditation of programs in health service psychology. q The CoA meets four times annually to consider policy-related matters and to act on programs seeking accreditation or re-accreditation. • Feb 6-10, 2019 Policy Meeting • April 4-7, 2019 Spring Program Review Meeting • July 18-21, 2019 Summer Program Review Meeting • Oct 17-20, 2019 Fall Program Review Meeting

STANDARDS OF ACCREDITATION q APA’s Commission on Accreditation (CoA) accredits programs at the doctoral, internship, and postdoctoral residency levels that prepare individuals in health service psychology. q CoA reviews programs for their consistency with the Standards of Accreditation in Health Service Psychology (SoA). The SoA became effective January 1, 2017. q The CoA accredits approximately 1,180 programs preparing individuals in health service psychology. Ø 406 Doctoral Programs (247 Clinical, 76 Counseling, 70 School, & 13 Combined) Ø 630 Internship Programs Ø 144 Postdoctoral Residency Programs (86 Clinical, 32 Neuropsychology, 9 Clinical Health, 7 Clinical Child, 7 Rehabilitation, 2 Geropsychology and 1 Forensic) •

  7. SITE VISITORS NEEDED q There is a significant need for internship, postdoctoral, as well as generalist site visitors. The CoA is actively seeking site visitors for all levels of training. q Upcoming site visitor workshops are listed on the Commission’s website; http://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation/visits/visitors/workshops.aspx. q Completers receive 7.5 CE credits. q Site visitor trainings at APA and CDSPP

ACCREDITATION CONSULTATION TRAINING PROGRAM The Accreditation Consultation Training (ACT) program is an online training system provided by the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) and the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation that is designed to help health service psychology training programs gain knowledge of accreditation policies, procedures and processes. Each training level specific curriculum can be accessed from the Office of Consultation and Accreditation home page. • Each module includes a set of optional self-assessment questions to facilitate understanding of the Standards of Accreditation (SoA). https://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation/programs/training/default
