  1. 2016-2017 Annual Performance Report Public Hearing: January 8, 2018 R I C H A R D S O N I N D E P E N D E N T S C H O O L D I S T R I C T Where all students connect, learn, grow and succeed.

  2. Texas Education Code 39.306 Texas Education Code 39.306 requires each district’s board of trustees to publish an annual report and to hold a public hearing to discuss that report within 90 days of receiving the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) from the state. 2

  3. Report Requirements • Each District’s Annual Performance Report must include: o the TAPR as provided by the Texas Education Agency (TEA); o Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) Financial Standard Reports; o District accreditation status; o campus performance objectives; o a report of violent or criminal incidents; and, o student performance in postsecondary institutions as received from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). 3

  4. Additional Contents • Additional district reports are included in the APR as a means of communicating information pertinent to district goals and expectations that are not included in the reports provided by TEA. These include the following: o Executive Summary of the TEA TAPR, o a summary of District and campus performance on the state accountability system and Distinction Designations received, o campus and District results on the Community and Student Engagement Accountability System (CSEAS) o District performance on the kindergarten through second grade math assessment, the second grade reading assessment, the National Merit Scholarship Program, Advanced Placement Exams, PSAT, SAT and ACT results reports, o a list of colleges accepting recent RISD graduates, and o a copy of the TAPR Glossary as provided by the TEA. 4

  5. Report Review by Volume • Volume I of the APR is primarily Elementary campus TAPR, PEIMS financial, and CSEAS reports, but also includes o District Goals, o An Executive Summary, and o District and Campus Ratings and Distinction Designations summaries. 5

Report Review (continued) • Volume II is primarily Secondary campus TAPR, PEIMS financial, and CSEAS reports, but also includes o the report on Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, o the THECB report of 2014-2015 High School Graduates’ Enrollment and Academic Performance in Texas Public Higher Education in FY 2016, o the additional district reports pertinent to district goals and expectations that are not included in the reports provided by TEA, o the RISD TAPR, PEIMS financial, and CSEAS report, o the Texas TAPR, and o the glossary. 6

  7. Report Review (continued) o The district report cover (in Volume II) also includes • the district rating, • accreditation status, and • Special Education Determination Status. • Volume III includes the 2016-2017 Goals and Performance Objectives for all campuses and the district. 7
