11/12/2019 DA NANG TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Da Nang towards “Sustainable Development” Guidelines : Sustainable development towards SMART CITY DEVELOPMENT , the municipal master plan and detailed plan for individual projects towards natural conservation, energy efficiency and environmental friendly On-going programs related to energy saving and renewable energy (RE) • The action plan for the National Energy Efficiency Programme in the period of 2020-2030 ; • The Project of Rooftop Solar Power Development until 2025, with a vision to 2035 to identify potential areas, installation roadmap, incentive mechanisms for rooftop solar power development • Da Nang Smart City Development Project until 2025, of which prioritize to implement smart city with six pillars including the pillar of smart environment (Smart Energy, Water Supply and Drainage, and Waste Management) • Development planning for public lighting towards replacing with LED bulbs for 10% lighting spot per year; • The Energy Efficiency Program in Da Nang city for the period of 2017 – 2020; • Construction of the solid waste treatment complex with capacity of 1,000 tons/day, of which give priority to waste-to-energy technologies with potential energy output of 24 MW (2018-2021) and 48 MW (2024-2025). 2

East Asian and Pacific Sustainable Urban Energy and Emissions Planning (SUEEP) - Provide a guidance framework from planning development following higher energy efficiency policy to main steps of the process including: ➢ Develop a vision statement and promote communication with stakeholders; ➢ Measure energy consumption and urban emissions; ➢ Develop green objectives; formulate sustainable urban energy and emissions plan; implement and provide funds for programs; follow up 2. Program on support of rooftop solar power development funded by WB • The Solar Power Development Program consists of two components • Component 1 – overall evaluation of technical potential of rooftop power solar, organization of field survey, development of satellite map (done) • Component 2 – introduction of solar power business models, technical evaluation of load capacity of the distribution grid with connected rooftop solar during the smart grid development process (on going) Da Nang towards “Sustainable Development” POTENTIAL OF ROOFTOP SOLAR POWER IN DA NANG Da Nang is ranked at the 5 th place among 16 cities, provinces having potential for rooftop solar power development. - Da Nang city has potential for solar power development with total sunny hours of 2,100 hours/year, irradiance of 4.89 kWh/m2/day . As of September 2019: 801 rooftop solar power systems with total installed capacity of 5.255 MWp. - According to the survey, evaluation of technical potential of rooftop solar power system calculated by the WB for Da Nang city: 1.1 GW , of which: + 11% of public buildings; + 30% of industrial buildings; + 52% of residential buildings. 3
