End-of-Course Exam Retakes ● Students may retake a state test if they have scored a 1 or a 2 or have not reached the 18 points needed for graduation ● Our school will provide extra help for you to understand the subject before you retake a test 14
Option 2: College Readiness Score ACT/ SAT- A remediation free score will be identified by each testing agency by Feb. 1st of the junior year. 15
Option 3: Certification in a Skill and a Passing Score on WorkKeys ● Students earn 12 points through a State Board of Education-approved, industry-recognized credential or group of credentials in a single career field and achieve workforce readiness score on WorkKeys assessment. 16

Choosing the Right High School Classes ● Program of Studies can be found on the district website: ○ http://www.pickerington.k12.oh.us ● Check with your current teachers who will recommend which level of classes you should take in their specific subject area. 18
English Class Options ● English 9 ● Honors English 9 ● College Credit Plus (if student qualifies) 19
Math Class Options ● Algebra 1 ● Geometry (Student has already taken Algebra 1) ● Honors Geometry (Student has already taken Algebra 1 and is interested in extending learning beyond the regular course) ● Algebra 2 (Student has already taken Geometry) ● Honors Algebra 2 (Student has already taken Geometry and is interested in extending learning beyond the regular course ● College Credit Plus Math (if the student qualifies) 20
Social Studies Class Options ● World History ● Honors World History (Recommended for students interested in extending learning beyond regular class) ● Electives 21
Science Class Options ● Integrated Science (Required 9th grade Science unless taken in Junior High) ● Biology (Only if student has taken Integrated Science) ● Honors Biology or AP Biology (Only if student has taken Integrated Science and is interested in extending learning beyond the regular course) ● Electives 22
Physical Education ● P.E. Options ○ Take it during the school year ○ Take it during the summer ○ Turn in 2 PE Replacement Waiver (Student is required to participate in 2 seasons of OHSAA approved sport or Marching Band) ■ Students who use the PE Waivers must taken and additional .5 electives for a total of 4.5 elective credits to meet graduation requirements. 23
Foreign Language Class Options ● Foreign Language is not a graduation requirement, but most colleges require 2 years of the same foreign language. ● Students must meet proficiency requirements to move to the next language level. ★ Remember the 4 of the 5 Honors Diplomas requires 3 years of one foreign language or 2 years each of two foreign languages. 24
Elective Class Options ● Look at the prerequisites (These can be found in the program of studies online.) ● Consider your classload. ● Always choose the most rigorous classes you can handle. 25
Pass/Fail Option ● Students may take up to 1 elective credit per year in all areas excluding core class and foreign languages. Journalism 1 & 2 Public Speaking and Discourse Contemporary Issues ○ History of American Sport Psychology Business and Marketing courses that are NOT CCP Yearbook Any course in the Theatre, Music, Visual Art, or Integrated Technology Departments ● Foreign Language will only be considered an “elective” and eligible for P/F if the student has already taken two years of one language and wants to try a 2nd language. ● Students may also take physical education as pass/fail. ● Courses taken as pass/fail will receive graduation credit and will be counted towards eligibility. 26
Pass/Fail Option continued….. ● To take a class pass/fail student must fill out the form and submit to counselor within the first 4 weeks of a semester. ● Pass/Fail forms are available in the counseling office. ● To receive credit for a pass/fail course, a student must earn at least a D- or 60%. ● A student choosing the letter grade option (A, B, C, D, F) must do so by the end of the course. 27
Repeating a Course ● Form must be completed and signed. ● Teacher must approve. ● NCAA will not recognize repeated courses for athletic eligibility. ● Transcript will reflect the higher grade attained. 28
Auditing a Course ● Credit will not be given for an audited course ● If a student chooses to audit a course, then the transcript will designate an audited course with an R+ or R-. ● An audited course will not count towards graduation honors (awards) or in any athletic eligibility considerations. ● An audited course will not count in any GPA considerations. ● An audited course will not count towards meeting any pre-requisite for another course. ● The student must remain in good standing (i.e., no attendance or discipline problems) to remain in course. 29
College Credit Plus (CCP) ● The College Credit Plus program (CCP) offers qualified high school students on-site access to directly transcripted credit through dual-credit. Students passing CCP classes will receive both high school and college credit for the course at no cost and without taking an exit exam. ● Students may enroll in college courses at their high school buildings, at local college campuses, or online. Classes may be taught by college faculty or Pickerington faculty with proper credentials. 30
College Credit Plus (CCP) ● CCP classes will count for high school credit, with certain classes counting as replacements for courses required for graduation. Check the Program of Study (link) for specific courses. ● CCP Parent/Student meeting is February 8th, at 7pm in the PHSN Performing Arts Center 31
School Day ● 7:55 am-2:55pm-School Day ● Students are Required to take 5-7 classes each semester. ○ Counselors STRONGLY RECOMMEND taking at least 6 classes each semester in order to remain eligible for sports/clubs as well as showing rigor for applying to college 32
