  2. 3/18/2019 History of NAMSS • NAMSS firsts : formed in California in 1971 • • national conference held in 1977 • certification process initiated in 1978 History of NAMSS (cont.) Growth of NAMSS • Membership grew from initially under 60 members to over 6,000 members in 2018 • Membership demographics have changed from primarily traditional hospital credentialing/privileging members to a strong presence of managed care members. • Increasing presence of international members • New affiliation with the American Health Care Lawyers Association (AHLA) has also enriched and diversified our membership.
