  3. Your Responsibility EVERY student WILL graduate from Helensvale State High and WILL achieve: 1. A QCE – Queensland Certificate of Education AND 2. An ATAR, OR a Nationally recognised qualification (Certificate course)

  4. What can I study QCE learning options suit your strengths, interests and goals: • school subjects • vocational education and training (VET) • school-based apprenticeships (SBA) and traineeships (SBT) • TAFE advanced diploma or diploma modules • university studies.

  5. School Subjects Three Categories of School Subjects: 1. General subjects (used to calculate ATARs) Examples include – General Mathematics, English, Legal Studies, Chemistry 2. Applied subjects Examples include: Sport and Recreation, Hospitality Practices, Aquatic Practices, Essential English, Essential Mathematics 3. Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificate courses Examples include: Cert II Dance, Cert II Business

TRAINING PACKAGES AND APPLIED SUBJECTS Students cannot study the following subjects together, as they will not maximise credit points:  Certificate II Visual Arts and Visual Arts In Practice  Certificate II Sport and Recreation / Certificate III Sport and Recreation and Sport and Recreation (Applied) / Sports Academy  Certificate II Sport and Recreation / Certificate III Fitness and Sport and Recreation (Applied) / Sports Academy Contribution of TAFE courses and School Based Traineeships/Apprenticeships will also have to be taken into account for crossover of Training Packages or Applied Subjects.

  10. As a range of training packages duplicate core units across qualifications, to accrue full QCE credit, 90% of a qualification must be new learning. Up to 10% of units of competency within a qualification can be reported as credit transfer with no impact on QCE credit accrued.

At Helensvale State High Academic ATAR Personalised Vocational Pathway Pathway ATAR Students study 6 Students study: Students must include a • a maximum of 5 General subjects minimum of 2 Certificate General subjects and II’s in their course of a Cert III or higher study • a minimum of 4 Students can complete General subjects, a Traineeships and TAFE Cert III or higher and courses in this Pathway either 1 Applied subject or 1 Cert II

  13. At Helensvale State High MANDATED CORE SUBJECTS These subjects are COMPULSORY for ALL students in Years 11 and 12 English AND Mathematics English General Maths OR Maths Methods OR OR Essential English Maths Methods and Specialist Maths OR Essential Maths

At Helensvale State High Academic ATAR 6 General Subjects English General Mathematics Accounting Mathematical Methods Business Specialist Mathematics Legal Studies Ancient History Biology Geography Chemistry Japanese Physics Modern History Design *****Maths and Science Digital Solutions Exam in Term 4 Year 12 is worth 50% Food and Nutrition of student’s mark Health Physical Education Dance Drama Film, Television & New Media Music Visual Art
