World Hunger
842 million people in the world are undernourished. They do not get enough food to live a healthy and active life. Every day, 20,864 people die from causes related to hunger.
The most visible victims of world hunger is children. 160 days of illnesses happen in a undernourished child's life out of one year. Five million deaths happen to children a year because of their health.
Poverty One of the main causes of hunger is poverty. One billion children live in poverty. 640 million live without shelter. 400 million live without save water. 270 million have no access to health care.
Poverty is Not Easy to Solve. The poorer you are, the less likely you are to be educated. Without education, it is hard to get jobs that pay a good amount of money. Nearly a billion people entered into the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
Natural Disasters Natural Disasters can lead to hunger in many areas. They cause famine and poverty in those areas. Natural disasters can wipe out crops and the food.
Solving Hunger Solving hunger can include improving food distribution. Some countries have massive amounts of of crops and grains. The problem is that some of these countries that use those crops and grains controlled by hostile governments.
Solving Hunger Many agencies set out to solve hunger. UNICEF is a non- profit, humanitarian group that tries to feed the hungry in all areas of the world. It works in more than 190 countries and territories to improve children's lives.
Hunger is Solvable Hunger can be solvable. All we need is everybody to donate to the organizations that help solve world hunger.
