A Potted History…. • Local authority spending cuts (£100m over next 2 years) • Schools being asked to support families • “Community Hubs” being formed • Thrive Hub – 22 schools in Dewsbury • Thrive SOUTH – Thornhill & Savile Town • Thrive WEST – area around Dewsbury Park, Ravensthorpe, Westborough • Thrive EAST – area around Bywell, Shaw Cross, Chickenley • Working for the families of more than 8000 children

What does the Hub do? • Mission Statement • To meet the needs of our children, from cradle to career, such that they can benefit fully from the teaching and learning within their schools and develop into healthy and productive young adults. • To create collaborative, constructive links within the schools network and between different agencies to ensure effective and efficient and targeted use of scarce resources for the benefit of the families in our care.

What does that mean? • That by working together the schools can help families by • Bringing support into schools for those children and families that need it • Professional support • Therapeutic support • Crisis support • Identifying support and resources to the area to strengthen the community, families and • Activities for children • Adult education for families • Resources and support for communities

  5. How will the Hub “decide” what support is needed? • By asking our community, families and children through • Questionnaires • Parents meetings • Linking with other community groups • Talking to school staff and sharing news/information • Seeking information via different media
