Why Recognition is Important During the First Year • Academically superb freshmen identified and recognized early in their college career is a useful retention tool (current study underway) • Additional motivation and peer support for students to maintain high academic standing • Provides an opportunity for association with others who are similar in standing
• 82 scholarships offered annually, ranging from $1000 to $7500, for undergraduate, graduate, and study abroad • Opportunities for leadership development, including a national student leadership conference • Senior certificates for students who maintain the 3.5 cumulative GPA • Maria Leonard Senior Book Award to the graduating senior from each chapter who has achieved the highest cumulative GPA • Engagement at the campus level in a student organization. This engagement takes the form of involvement in chapter activities, service projects, tutoring and mentoring struggling students, and peer advising.
