Well Woman HealthCheck Program • Arizona’s implementation of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program in all 50 states, D.C., 6 U.S. territories, and 13 tribes • Assists low-income, uninsured and underinsured women access breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services
Overview of WWHP Operations • Patients are seen at contracted WWHP locations across the state – Federally Qualified Community Health Centers – County-level health departments • Payment for clinical services is rendered to the contractors on a fee-for-service basis at Medicare Reimbursement Rates • Data is submitted twice per year to CDC; 100% of the patient data is audited • Program funding is dependent on the quality of care provided
Eligibility Requirements Services Provided • Clinical Breast Exams • Be a woman 21 – 64 years old • Mammograms • Pap tests • Be a resident of Arizona • Pelvic exams • Not be enrolled in Arizona’s • Ultrasounds Medicaid program, AHCCCS • Biopsies • Household income at or • Colposcopies below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level • Referrals into treatment • Transportation to and from • Serves the uninsured, underinsured, and insured appointments if needed • Patient navigation*
Patient Navigation • “Navigated Only” • Providing patient navigation to insured women at our contractor locations • Assisting those who have never been screened or who are rarely screened • Providing patient education • Using evidence-based interventions to support screening and appropriate follow-up
