  9. Time f for r Kids The fifth grade teachers consider Time for Kids magazine an essential component of language arts instruction. This year, the cost of the yearlong subscription is five dollars per child. So that the teachers can order the subscription as soon as possible, they ask parents to bring five dollars to cover the cost on Back to School Night. Payment may be made in cash (exact change only) or via check, made out to Time for Kids . Thank you for your generous support. Please turn all money in by Friday, August 31 st

  14. How to Study For A Test 1. A study guide will be given for each test. The study guide is a broad overview of the concepts. Please refer to the student’s materials for more detailed information. 2. Start studying as soon as notified 3. Refer to student’s notebook and other study materials.

Daily Homework • Expected reading: 20 minutes a night • All other unfinished classwork is to be completed for homework as directed by teachers • To support your child’s needs, additional homework may be sent home as needed • Should be written in assignment notebooks by students daily • No more than 60 minutes per night • For planned absences, work will be given upon return to school

  16. Late Work • Please check your child’s assignment notebook nightly to help prevent or catch up on late work. • Late work will impact your child’s citizenship’s and effort grades. • Full credit may not be given to late work

Optional: Bring Your Own Device • Any phones must be turned off and stored in backpacks during school hours • Students may bring in tablets or eReaders only for reading • Students are responsible for using the devices appropriately, keeping track of them, and protecting them • The county/school is not liable for broken or stolen devices.

  21. Clothing • Due to temperature fluctuations, children may need a jacket/sweater in class • If the temperature is below freezing, students must be dressed appropriately to go outside • No Heely (roller skate) shoes

  22. Birthday Treats and Daily Snack • Birthday treats are welcome for lunchtime sharing, but check with office or teacher regarding allergies. • Daily Snack • Healthy options encouraged • No candy, chewing gum, soda, or sugary drinks (Water only.) • Reusable water bottles are encouraged • Please limit the snack to the size of a sandwich Ziplock bag.
