Knowing the True God
Post-modernism No outside reality fixes the notion of God, but rather an individual or group of individuals decides it for themselves. A. W. Tozer: “What we believe about God is the most important thing about us.”
Knowing the True God Psalm 145
I. AN OUTLINE OF THE CHAPTER A. The Greatness of God (3-6) 1. He is great in His Person (3). 2. He is great in His works (4). 3. He is great in His majesty (5). 4. He is great in His power (6). B. The Goodness of God (7-10) C. The Government of God (11-13) D. The Grace of God (14-20)
II. Three Fundamental Aspects About God (3) A. God is Great. > Human Problem #1 - The trivialization of God. > Human Problem #2 - Modern-day Idolatry. Giving respectability to our personal opinions of God, formed by our own ideas (Psalm 115:3-8).
Why do people prefer their own ideas about God instead of what the Bible says? 1. Impatience with God. 2. Man wants a God who is more tolerant, less demanding, less judgmental. 3. A commitment to individualism (Ezek. 4:6-8).
B. God is Worthy of Praise (Job 1:20-21). C. God’s Greatness is Unfathomable (Job 11:7-9).
