Reading in Year 5  Children may change their reading books whenever they have finished their book.  Guided reading and comprehension  Reading diaries (planners) – checked regularly.  Awards  Bronze: 25 points  Sliver: 50 points  Gold: 100 points  Platinum: 125 points  Diamond: 150 points  Palladium: 175 points

  6. English  We will study a range of fiction / non fiction / poetry (please see curriculum map)  List of objectives in pack – those in bold are the Key Performance Indicators.  In year 5 we focus on:  Planning, editing and proofreading  Spelling  Grammar

Mathematics  Please see a list of objectives  Children are encouraged to use resources and drawings to help their understanding  To extend children's learning, we focus on a mastery approach – how do you know that? Why is that? What if?  By Year 5 children should know all times tables up to 12 and their related division facts and apply these facts.
