Reading in Year 5 Children may change their reading books whenever they have finished their book. Guided reading and comprehension Reading diaries (planners) – checked regularly. Mathematics Please see a list of objectives Children are encouraged to use resources and drawings to help their understanding To extend children's learning, we focus on a mastery approach – how do you know that? Why is that? What if? By Year 5 children should know all times tables up to 12 and their related division facts and apply these facts.
