  4. ARC Overview ● Students will read a lot! 3rd Grade Core Text Novel Studies. ○ Students will read, write, and discuss various types of ■ text. Standards and skills will be taught through these daily core text lessons. Kindergarten and 1st students are taught reading ○ standards/skills through daily read alouds.

  5. ARC Overview Morning Message in Kindergarten and 1st Grade ● Interactive writing time ■ Compose the morning message together as a class ■ Reinforces the foundational skills students will use in ■ their reading and writing.

  6. ARC Overview ● Independent Reading Time ● Students read books on their independent reading level in class for 30 minutes during the school day. ● Students are working to build their reading stamina. ● Teacher will conference with students individually.

  7. ARC Overview ● Reading Conferencing/Small Group Instruction Teachers meet with students one on one or in small ○ groups throughout the week. Focus on individual student reading goals. ○ Allow teachers to know their students at a deeper ○ level. Teachers focus on identifying reading strengths and ○ identifying needs of each student to help them grow as a reader.

  17. Book Replacement Plan In order to continue to provide our ARC books to our ● students, we must replace books that have been lost or damaged while at home. Option 1- You may purchase any book from the same color ● level from the ARC Home Bookstore. https://www.americanreadingathome.com/bookstore/ Option 2- You may donate $5.00-$15.00 for each lost or ● damaged book and the school will purchase new books.
