PGY1 Orientation Program Training Requirements 3 Years (36) Months of Training All Resident should expect to complete the full 36 months Royal College Requirements: Minimum 12 Months of Internal Medicine 1. CCU and ICU 2. Subspecialty Rotations 3. Clinical Elective or Research 4. Community Rotation 5.

PGY1 Orientation Training Requirements b) 4 Blocks of Ambulatory/Consult Medicine: • PGY2 – EDC Rotation/Windsor CTU • PGY3 – 2 EDC Rotation • PGY3 - 2 Ambulatory GIM Blocks
Emergency Department Consultation (EDC) Purpose : develop skills in triage, assessment • and initial management of undifferentiated IM consult in the ED 11 hour shift • 12-1 Noon Rounds – protected • 1-11 pm in ED as SMR with the pager • City-wide •

PGY1 Orientation Training Requirements Electives: • PGY2 – 2 Blocks • PGY3 – 2 Blocks - Internal Medicine or Subspecialty (Western) - Internal Medicine or Subspecialty (Other Canadian Centre) - International Health Elective - Scholarly/Research Project (mandatory) - Elective Outside Medicine (approval required) • Up to 3 blocks outside of London*

PGY1 Orientation Meeting with the Program Director • Semi-annual meetings with the Program Director • First meeting for the PGY1s will be in September to address any issues early Purpose: • Discuss academic progress, career planning, and resident well-being, mentorship • Residents may meet with the Program Director at any time by requesting an appointment
