The wreath will be personalised to The Reach Free School. • Wooden remembrance tokens are also provided during the trip.

Sick bags will be available on the coach for those who suffer from travel sickness. All pupils must bring their NHS European Health Insurance card.

  8. Accommodation We will be staying at the Altia Hotel on the edge of Lille in the Nord region of France. Pupils will be allocated single-sex rooms in pairs or in groups of 3. The rooms are equipped with hairdryers, towels and shower gel.

  9. Dietary Requirements We will be having breakfast at the hotel and they will provide us with packed lunches during the day. The hotel will also provide us with evening meals for two nights. We will send a copy of the dietary requirements of our pupils to our travel company, Remembrance Travel.

  10. Spending Money We would advise that pupils bring a maximum of 40 euros spending money. Please note - staff will not take responsibility for the safety of pupils' money or valuables. Please encourage your children to keep their money and belongings safe and to leave anything particularly valuable at home. Pupils will not have to pay any entrance fees to any of our programmed events and all meals are included.

Pocket money for souvenirs/presents, extra snacks, extra drinks. • Snacks - (cereal bars) extra food during the trip. • Suitable clothing - for warm and wet weather, 1 x walking shoes, 1x • sensible trainers (suitable for walking through fields). 12. Mobile Phones Pupils may bring a mobile phone. It will need roaming facilities and sufficient credit for emergency calls to the group leader and to contact parents on arrival at France, and on our return to school. Pupils can contact home on arrival. In an emergency during the trip parents can make contact with Mr Booth on 07760 698950 . Any other enquiries can be directed to the school office during operating hours – 7.30am – 4.30pm. Mobile phones should not be used for Internet access (such as Facebook and other internet sites) as this is extremely expensive when used abroad. Parents and pupils should switch internet access off before the trip, most mobile phones will have this option. Valuable possessions are to be kept to a minimum and mobile phones kept out of sight at all times.

  13. Supervision Most of the time, pupils will be in the whole group and under the direct supervision of staff. Pupils must report any inappropriate attention from adults to a member of staff immediately. Pupils need to be aware of strangers and may not be in groups of less than four when free to explore without direct staff supervision. When pupils are free to explore in small groups, i.e. in a shopping centre or a museum, a central meeting point will be clearly designated, and there will always be at least one member of staff on duty there. In the event of an accident to one member of the group, one member of the group stays with the pupil while the other two find a member of staff. Each member of staff will be allocated a group of pupils.

  14. Behaviour It is of utmost importance that pupils and parents remember that the prime purpose of this trip is educational and not recreational. We hope that all pupils do enjoy themselves and make good use of their leisure time, but they will not gain much from the trip, and parents will not have received value for money, if this becomes a priority. It goes without saying that the highest standards of behaviour are expected at all times. This includes all the times when pupils are not under direct supervision, e.g. free time and night time. Disciplinary action will be taken during the trip and subsequently against any pupil falling short of these requirements.

  15. Learning Cultural visits to places of interest around France with cross- curricular links to Geography, History, Religious Studies and Citizenship. Experiential learning including opportunities for pupils to visit sites and other places that will enable them to gain a real insight into the impact of the Great War. Independent Research with the opportunity for pupils to carry out independent research whilst on the trip. This will provide them with essential skills and knowledge for studying Humanities subjects at GCSE.
