1 0 0 % Brotherhood Conversion Aw ard Brotherhood is one of the core principles of the OA. It is a solemn and fun experience to seal your membership in the order. We encourage all members to walk their trail whenever they can. • All dues-paid members that are eligible for Brotherhood in your unit must become Brotherhood by the end of Fall Fellowship. • If you believe you have completed it, your OA Troop Representative will print the award form off of lodge104.net and fill it out. • At Winter Banquet, he will then bring the form and one check made out to Occoneechee Lodge. The amount of the check should be the total of $2 for each Brotherhood (and Vigil) member who wishes to buy a patch. • The Brotherhood Chair will then verify it and if correct, the trading post will give them an award flap for every Brotherhood and Vigil member in your unit who paid for one If you are an Ordeal member, go through your Brotherhood Trail at Fall Fellowship and if you are a Brotherhood member stay active and encourage others in your unit to complete their Brotherhood!

Can BSA Units participate in political rallies? by Bryan Wendell originally posted in March 2012, updated for 2016. Scouts should “Do Your Duty to Country” but not by endorsing any one political party or candidate. Per BSA’s official policy on Scout participation in political rallies… • Scout units Are permitted to provide a color guard flag ceremony, in uniform, at political events . •BSA Policy requires our adult & youth member in uniform to leave immediately after the presentation of colors & the Pledge of Allegiance. • Should they want to stay, Scouters must do so as individuals , that means they have to change Out of their uniforms. • Scouts and Scouters can’t stand on the platform for the remainder of the speech or presentation or in a conspicuous location where media could construe their presence as an endorsement of support. This is meant to prevent someone from using our brand to convey support of a candidate or ideology. And, this prevents Scouts from being used by any party in campaign advertisements or materials. • Scouts and Scouters Can pose for photos with political candidates at events But photos of candidates or Scouts in uniform or BSA marks or logos are Not allowed in political campaign materials of any kind. Be alert to situations that would imply that the BSA favors one candidate or party over another. Observance of BSA’s policy against active participation of uniformed Scouts & leaders in political events is mandatory.
