Ghost Tours? A way to reach new audiences A way to engage audiences in an interactive historic experience. Storytelling that involves the audience in multi-sensory experience. Opportunity to partner with others – collaboration is beneficial in many ways Cross disciplinary event (history, art, culture, theater, music…) Where and How? On the museum grounds and the historic downtown area. Could be a cemetery, neighborhood, historic house, etc. Utilizing historic personalities and stories, delivered in a new way. YEAR ONE: 2013 Large event: included museum grounds and historic downtown. 8 ghosts locations (ten ghosts total) Tour guides, using headsets, guided small groups through the tour BBF provided scripts for tour guides about each ghost/location Storyteller in gazebo Attendees encouraged to wear costumes Over 50 attendees of all ages. YEAR TWO: 2014 Contained to museum grounds 10 total ghosts throughout museum No tour guides; self guided; controlled-pace tour BBF provided historic characters, but actors developed character roles Storyteller in gazebo Attendees encouraged to wear costumes Added party, games, face painter Over 100 attendees of all ages.
