W H A T I S A N O F F I C I A L P L A N ? • An Official Plan is a policy document adopted by Council under the Planning Act • Statement of the Town’s vision and goals • Provides policy direction to guide growth and development to: • establish how land may be used • protect important natural features and agricultural resources • plan for the provision of parks, community facilities, housing choices, and infrastructure • The Official Plan provides the overarching tools to direct future growth and change within the Town. 2 Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Official Plan Review

W H Y I S A N O F F I C I A L P L A N R E V I E W N E E D E D ? • The Town’s Official Plan was first approved in January 2002 • Major amendments but no comprehensive review prior to the initiation of this process in 2016 • Since 2002, the Provincial and municipal land use planning framework has changed significantly including: • Two versions of the Provincial Policy Statement (2005 and 2014) • Two versions of the Provincial Growth Plan (2006 and 2017) • A new County of Simcoe Official Plan (2016) • An Official Plan must be consistent with and conform to higher-order policies • Therefore, a municipal review of the Official Plan is required 3 Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Official Plan Review
