Volunteer Program Background • Over 20,000 volunteers will support the planning and delivery of the TORONTO2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. One of the largest calls for volunteers • in the history of Ontario. Chevrolet is the proud sponsor of the • TORONTO2015 Volunteer Program. • Volunteers will contribute to all aspects of TORONTO2015 operations.
Volunteer Program Goals Contribute to the overall success of the • Games. Engage and inspire our community. • Create a heightened sense of civic pride. • Celebrate our diversity. • Develop skills in youth and other targeted • groups. Leave a lasting legacy of competent, • skilled and trained volunteers/build volunteer capacity.

Volunteer Requirements • Language requirements: All volunteers are required to have a basic working knowledge of • English. To support our athletes and visitors, we are also looking for volunteers • who speak French, Spanish or Portuguese and other selected languages. • Age requirements: The volunteer program is open to individuals 16 years or older as of • January 1, 2015. Volunteers under 18 years of age will require the consent of a parent or • guardian to participate.
Time Commitment Volunteering at the Games requires a significant time • commitment. In general, the minimum shift requirements are: • • Pan Am Games volunteers will contribute 12 shifts over 18 Games-time operating days. • Parapan Am Games volunteers will contribute 6 shifts over 9 Games-time operating days.
What Can Volunteers Expect? Volunteering at the Games will • be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Opportunity to showcase the • Greater Golden Horseshoe region. • Develop meaningful friendships with fellow volunteers. Gain valuable skills and • experience . • Have FUN!
What Will Volunteers Receive? Comprehensive training program • Opportunity for volunteer certificate • Official Pan Am/Parapan Am Games • uniform. Refreshments and meals based on shift • duration. Volunteers with accreditation will have • access to free public transit. Invitations to special volunteer • recognition events.
Supporting Student Volunteers • Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) enhancement is available to college and university students who volunteer for the Pan/Parapan Am Games Encourages student participation in the TO2015 Volunteer Program by reducing • financial burden associated with post-secondary education New and returning students who volunteer will not be required to make a pre-study • financial contribution • New graduates who volunteer will be able to defer paying their OSAP loan until one full year after completing full-time studies (currently 6 month grace) Students can apply for these benefits on the TO2015 Volunteer Application form • (available April 8 th at www.toronto2015.org/volunteer) Additional information on the OSAP enhancement is available at • http://ontario.ca/blhl
How Will Volunteers Be Assigned? Volunteers will be deployed throughout the Greater Golden • Horseshoe region at more than 50 competition and non- competition venues and facilities. Non-competition venues, like our Athletes’ village, are sites • crucial to the Games but where no actual competition takes place. Volunteers will be assigned to over 50 functional areas. • Based on geography, availability and skills. •

Training 13 Training will begin in early 2015. • Combination of web-based and in-person training events (regional). • • Volunteers will play a critical role in the delivery of the Games-time training program (“Train the trainer ” model ).
Getting Involved: Games Time • Recruitment for Games-time volunteers will begin in April 2014. An online application will be available on the TO2015 website: • www.TORONTO2015.org. Option to submit your contact information now via • www.TORONTO2015.org. You will be notified when online applications become available.
How to Get Involved Now There are numerous pre-Games volunteer opportunities available now. • • To view these positions, please visit the volunteer section on the TO2015 website. • This site will be updated as additional volunteer positions become available. • Prior to the Games, we will require volunteers to assist in many roles including: • community outreach activities • general planning • transportation and logistics • uniform distribution and accreditation • volunteer selection and training • conferences and special events
