Vladimir Nikolayevich Ipatieff Sesquicentennial Celebration-RASA Ipatieff session 4 November 2017
Ipatieff Centenary - 1967
The Center for Catalysis and Surface Science (CCSS) is one of the world’s premier institutes promoting interdisciplinary research fundamental to the discovery and atomistically-controlled synthesis of catalysts that optimize the sustainability of industrial and consumer goods . • The Center achieves its mission by focusing on: Characterization of active sites on solid surfaces and of reaction intermediates; Interaction of metals with oxides, in particular zeolites, and other promoter effects; Selectivity of advanced oxidation catalysis; and Environmental catalysis directed toward destruction of gaseous pollutants • CCSS is a strategic research center of the Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern (ISEN).
CleanCat Core Facility Founded 2012 • • Provides students with the necessary tools for testing the catalytic properties of materials and obtaining insight into reaction mechanisms occurring on surfaces for for environmental and energy processes • The FIRST core facility dedicated to catalysis research at a US academic institution
Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern University (ISEN) Michael R. Wasielewski, Executive Director Clare Hamilton Hall Professor of Chemistry
ISEN advances global sustainability and energy solutions through transformational research, interdisciplinary education, and public engagement. The Institute’s charter is enterprise-wide, leveraging the power of interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, natural and social sciences, business, and law .
