THE SHOW Animate It! LIVE is the brand new live show from the award-winning Aardman studios, creators of Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. In this unique and interac9ve live experience, the audience are joined by a trainee animator and a trainee director and learn some top 9ps about stop- frame anima9on from an expert at Aardman – and even become the stars of an animated movie!

STORYLINE OVERVIEW A trainee anima9on director and a trainee stop-mo9on animator dream of working at the world-famous Aardman studios. As if by magic, they get a ‘live’ link to an expert from Aardman who offers to help them and suggests they create a showreel to demonstrate their skills. They decide to use the audience to create their showreel: Replacement Technique Six cut out images of Shaun the Sheep are used to create a sequence that looks like Shaun is running. Crea2ng Perspec2ve the whole audience is used to create a background for Shaun’s running sequence. Special Effects Spinning Head – a parent is brought on stage, and is used to create a clip where their head spins around. Magic Suitcase – four children are brought on stage and create a clip where three of the volunteers climb into a small suitcase, and the fourth one closes the suitcase and carries it out of the scene, as if it hardly weighs anything.
THE AARDMAN INSIDER Merlin Crossingham, Crea9ve Director at Aardman, is the Aardman insider. He offers the trainee director and trainee animator some prac9cal 9ps and advice on how to make their showreel, and provides feedback on the final anima9on. He appears via 5 clips that act as ‘live’ link ups with the presenters on stage.
AARDMAN Aardman is the world-famous, four 9mes Oscar-winning anima9on studio based in Bristol, UK. The studio is best known for its stop-frame anima9on technique with clay puppets and strong funny characters, such as family favourites Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph. As well as TV series, Aardman has also produced 6 feature films including Chicken Run, The Pirates and Shaun the Sheep The Movie.
DAN COLMAN CREATIVE was established to consolidate the producing work of Dan Colman in theatrical and live entertainment. CREATIVE TEAM MIRANDA LARSON Writer Miranda is a writer and director for children’s theatre and television, with TV credits including mul9ple series of all new Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Thomas & Friends, Dibo the Gij Dragon, Disney’s Life Bites, CBeebies Melody and Let’s play. Theatre credits for script and lyrics include: Monster High Live, Bob’s Building Club, Amazing World of Gumball: TV Take Shaun the Sheep: Save the Tree, Milkshake Live, Ben 10 Omniverse (to name but a few) as well as the worldwide tour of Angelina the Mousical which performed at the Sidney Opera House. Miranda con9nues to write and direct for broadcasters and brands worldwide including Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, UK’s Channel Five and Makel. Miranda used her speciality “live experience” skills for Animate It Live , to create a fully immersive experience for the audience. The show isn’t a narra9ve but it’s also not a study lecture. Miranda wanted an experience where the audience felt part of the anima9on world, gaining insight but having fun along the way. Miranda worked with the produc9on team to ensure that everyone in every seat felt included and part of the show, and then lej feeling inspired to go and create!
