  2. Dear ladies and gentlemen, About 10 years ago I visited the island of Vava’u which belongs to the kingdom of Tonga and is situated in the South Pacific east of Fiji and south of Samoa, for the first time: I was thrilled instantly ! As you can see on the map, this island shows a topography like no other group of islands in the South Sea. But to experience the exclusiveness and to bring it home to the guests you need boats in order to gain access to those unique attractions. This is exactly what our company specializes in. During my visits to Vava’u I have always noticed how aimlessly cruise ship passengers wander around because nothing had been organized for them. This is what Vava’u Island Tours will change begin October 2012. We offer exclusively for cruise ship passengers day trips to places they never would have been able to reach otherwise. Our capacity of up to 180 passengers lays also far over what is offered in the whole kingdom of Tonga. To the Vava’u Island Tours team only one thing is important: to make sure that our guests take home only the best of Vava’u and its people and that they keep a happy and beautiful memory of these unique South Pacific Islands. 4. Short description of Vava’u Vava’u is a group of islands that belongs to the kingdom of Tonga. The Vava’u island group measures approximately 21km from East to West and 25km from North to South. In 2006, the census showed that 17 of the 34 elevated and overgrown islands are populated and that there are 15485 inhabitants living on 121 square kilometers. More than 3900 of them had been living in Neiafu, the capital. With 89,74 square kilometers Vava’u - its main island - is the second largest of the islands of Tonga. Vava’u is a slanted uplifted coral reef with cliffs that rise up to 200m in the North. In the South, the island dissolves into many waterways and small islands. The largest of those waterways is the Ava Pulepulekai Channel which resembles a fjord and reaches 11 kilometers into the land to the harbour of Neiafu, Vava’us only city. Because of its scenic beauty, Vava’u is especially popular amongst sailors and other tourists and constitutes one of the most important centers for tourism in Tonga. From May to October Vava’us harbour is the destination for sailors from all over the world. Besides the beauty of the island an outstanding attraction are the humpback whales who give birth here and also the underwater caves which can be explored by divers. Besides tourism, farming and fishing are the main sources of income for the people of Vava’u. The vanilla beans that are grown here are one of the world’s best. Besides, giant mussels and pearls are cultivated on Vava’u. Vavau-Island-Tours E-Mail: hasleralex@gmx.ch Alexander Hasler Riehenring 63 Neiafu Vava’u, Kindom of Tonga 4058 Basel Switzerland

On both islands there are small villages that you are more than welcome to pay a visit to. It will inevitably bring you into contact with the extremely friendly locals who are one of the last in the South Sea who have this typical polynesian friendly mentality which will gain you an unforgettably beautiful experience. These people come into contact with tourists only a few times per year and still manage very well to live without power, running water or other means of modern technology. Otherwise a thing to do would be to indulge at the little beach bar which will be put up just for this event and to have and ice cold drink or maybe a cold beer and to let your gaze wonder over the white beach and the azure-blue ocean. The sight of the islands which lie offshore and look like green mushrooms rising out of the blue sea, contribute to the many unforgettable impressions of the unique islands of Vava’u that you will take home. 9. Description of the islands/destinations: Kapa Island Kapa Island is one of the bigger islands of the Vava’u islands group with 4 small villages, each with about 50-100 inhabitants. There is Otea in the North, Kapa in the South and in the West right next to each other Vakataumai and Falevai. This is where the beach is located and where our excursion will take place. The beach points to the West and to the South and offers a beautiful view of the neighboring islands as well as Nuku island with its sandbank which is only 200 meters from the beach. The island invites you to take a stroll to the villages and their people and to other beaches as well as the reef resort in the North. Taunga Island Taunga Island is a smaller island with several beautiful long sandy beaches which spread around the only village in the center of the island. The village which carries the name of the island reflects the charm and friendliness of the locals who - similar to the Kapa Island natives - have only few out of town visitors per year. In the South you can cross a sandbank on dry feet at low tide and get to a small desert island where you can enjoy almost endless vastness of the atoll that represents itself here. No other island of the Vava’u islands allows for such a long wading (bathing shoes recommended).
