Problem How to: Engage and inform a dispersed/commuter student population Facilitate access to student resources Create an inclusive central gathering space Build and foster a coherent identity around the major Leverage student talent/energy for individual and communal benefit and provide a valuable experience …and do it with little or no resources
Solution - Conceptual Transmedia is the intertextual creation of a world/ environment across multiple media platforms Transmediation of the College Experience at the Major Level - the goal is to create narrative coherency to the process and build student internalization and identification Web-Mobile-Digital Physical-Analog Conceptually Framed via our Tag Line
Solution - Logistical Assign a faculty member for Use Canvas shell as a home service requirement room or hub and load with news, events, and content Use required activity unit 60% accepted invite within 48 hours course 90%+ by the end of the first term Fall 2013 9 students Spring 2014 29 students � � �

Management Social Media Team is operated out of the Canvas shell for the one unit COMM 198 activity course (credit/no credit) Students self-select into teams/tasks; team leaders and CC Director appointed Larger teams have dedicated discussion boards for communication Students post weekly to a discussion board on their deliverables; graded via Speedgrader on a 10 point scale; feedback and directions via Comments Announcements used for dissemination of special or time sensitive information to "push" Most information pulled from Weekly Newsletter (COMM Events) Policy Handbook: scope of our mission; prohibited content; use of Canvas shell features Guides: mostly student generated; best practices; how to; technical Challenge: sta ff graduate (most stay at least 2 semesters)
Discussion Boards for Interactivity Surveys (29%+ compliance) Notifications of New Content Announcements (rare) Features/Content Can use course projects to create content
