News • Atlassian has just acquired Blue Jimp, • Jitsi will continue to evolve as an opensource project, • BlueJimp team will concentrate on Jitsi Videobridge, Jigasi, Jirecon, Jitsi Meet.
JICOFO • JItsi COnference FOcus is a server side focus component • 1. Managing Colibri channels for participants and establishing media flow to/from the JVB. 2. Bridge load balancing based on conference count. 3. Can handle client authentication(optionally)
JICOFO • 4. Takes part in some features implementation like : – audio muting, – recording, – SIP calls, – Verify user permissions: only moderators are allowed to start new SIP call or mute others.
Authentication • Allow FedID account : Shibboleth • Only authenticated users can create a new room. • All guest participants can join a room without authentication.
Multi bridge support • Jitsi Meet is able to run with multiple bridges registered, • Renater deployed 2 bridges, • Multiple bridges support allows load balancing feature • It also allows to operate the service if a bridge is down.
Load balancing • Load balancing is provided by Jicofo • It requires to run more than one bridge • Live registration is not supported yet, but could come soon, • Restart process is required to register a bridge: need to schedule operation while the service is not used (SHOULD BE IMPROVE)
LastN • LastN is activated on « rendez-vous » • Last week we tested a conference with 19 participants • This feature needs to be improved.
Nightly • The developement to support Firefox was committed. • « rendez-vous » can be accessed with the Nightly version of Firefox. • Firefox does not support simulcast.
REST API • RENATER developed a REST API to manage the service • Allow Scheduling support • Avoid name collisions • Manage moderators list
Stats & Logging • InfluxDB based • Store and relate informations from different components: – Jicofo – Jitsi Videobridge – Browser (through Jicofo) • This system allows us to be more precise, we drastically revised our previous numbers.
Stats & Logging • Relevant numbers since production started(march 16th): • 5000 conferences (2500 conf per month) • Total conference time : – 209088 Min – 3485 H – 145 D • Average time : 42 min.
