  11. 2018 Develop Resources to Assist States in the Implementation of the NTDETAS • The objectives of this project are to: – Develop and execute a follow-up process to identify the outcomes of NHTSA Driver Education State Assessments and ANSTSE Technical Assistance – Create a resource library on the ANSTSE website for driver education research, case studies, white papers, and best practices.   12. 2018 Develop Resources to Assist States in the Implementation of the NTDETAS • The goals of this project are to: – Increase states awareness of the benefits of conducting a NHTSA State Driver Education Assessment and ANSTSE Technical Assistance. – Capture how and to what degree the results of the Assessments and Technical Assistance were implemented by States. – Provide states with strategies to take action to meet the recommendations provided. – Provide resources to states to assist in implementing the NTDETAS. Have been or are being evaluated. Not enough research to support consistent positive outcomes. • Emerging Practice – based on evidence and wisdom but have not been formally evaluated. Slide 14

  17. 2018 Core Elements for a Driver Education Parent/Guardian Session • The objective of this project is to: – Develop core elements for the delivery of parent/guardian sessions. • These core elements will: – Help to prepare parents for their critical role in their teen’s learning -to-drive process. – Ease States’ path toward the implementation of such sessions. – Advocate the value of the parent/guardian involvement section in the NTDETAS.   18. 2018 Core Elements for a Driver Education Parent/Guardian Session • The goals of this project are to: – Increase the value of parent sessions. – Provide more uniformity in parent sessions. – Increase the number of States to require/offer parent sessions. – Help parents become effective driving coaches for their teens. – Support new young drivers in developing greater driving skills and risk-reduction abilities. – Provide a foundation for fewer teen motor vehicle crashes.
