Degrees Students Want, Degrees Alaska Needs • UAA has agreement with Washington State University to offer a Chemical Engineering degree. • First two years at UAA, second two at WSU • A new partnership with Idaho State University allows students to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree without leaving the state. • Currently recruiting 10-15 students to begin in 2016 (inaugural class of 2020) • UAA partners with Willamette University College of Law and the University of Washington School of Law to provide baccalaureate and law degrees on accelerated schedule.

  8. Ruddy Sirri-Akonwi Abam Our December ’ 15 student commencement speaker, Ruddy is a first-generation college student from Cameroon. An Honors student with a degree in Justice, plus minors in Political Science and Psychology, Ruddy reminded her fellow students a few weeks ago of the importance of resilience.

  9. Ariane Audett A current student majoring in biology with aspirations to become a doctor, Ariane grew up homeless in Anchorage. When her schoolwork got off track two years ago, it was an on-campus counselor who inspired and guided Ariane back on track academically.

  10. Kyle Worl This Tlingit-Athabascan student is pursuing a graduate degree in linguistics. At UAA, Kyle learned to speak Tlingit and found his passion for preserving endangered Alaska Native languages.

  14. Seawolf Athletics Seawolf Athletics had a stellar year in 2015, winning Women’s Basketball and Volleyball GNAC titles and hosting regional championships in the Alaska Airlines Center.

Seawolf Athletics • 5 Cross Country runners and 3 Volleyball student athletes named to NCAA All-American teams. • 2 Academic All-Americans • Travis Thompson • Karolin Anders • UAA’s Women’s Volleyball led the NCAA Division II in attendance this past season averaging 1,481 fans per game (total of 23,699). • UAA Athletics is ranked #5 out of all NCAA Division II Institutions in the Learfield Directors Cup Standing for competitive excellence. This is the highest ranking UAA has ever received.

  16. Seawolf Athletics Indoor Track and Field • Men win first GNAC title, led by Cody Thomas Cross Country • Men and women sweep GNAC titles — women finish 8 th , men finish 3 rd in the nation

The Alaska Airlines Center • Since the Alaska Airlines Center opened on September 4, 2014, the AAC has hosted 260 events with 243,771 people in attendance. • Fall and Spring Commencement Ceremonies • Popular Concerts (e.g. Alabama Shakes, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Mötley Crüe) • Alaska Native Youth Olympics • Women’s NCAA Division II Basketball and Volleyball Championships • NCAA Division I Gymnastics Conference Championships • The Varsity Sports Grill in the AAC • Terrific for lunch or dinner, the VSG has one of the best outdoor decks in town during the summer. • The VSG was open 286 days in 2015 and served 27,717 guests.
