  3. Maintaining the Standard Much has been achieved in the last few years to improve the standard of uniform and we thank all parents for their support with this. We encourage you to continue to join us in a concerted effort to maintain the standard of uniform in Williamwood.

  4. Dressing for Excellence Our policy on uniform is set out in the school handbook. Please click on the link below for the council and school policy on uniform: Dressing for Excellence

  5. S6 Blazer S6 blazers have blue braiding. Prefects have additional green braiding on the cuffs, deputes have silver and the head boy and head girl have gold. The S6 blazer will cost £80 (including braiding). Prices vary according to size.

  6. S5 Blazer S5 blazers have braiding on the pockets and sleeves. The additional S6 braiding is added at the end of the year. This allows pupils two years’ wear from their blazers and so provides better value for money. The S5 blazer will cost £75 (including S5 braiding). Prices vary according to size.

  7. S1-S4 Blazer Polyester or Eco blazer Wool blazer Most parents choose the polyester blazer with embroidered badge, which costs approximately £28. A woollen blazer is also available costing approximately £60.

  8. School Scarf In response to requests from pupils, we have introduced a Williamwood scarf. This is an optional piece of uniform and can be purchased from Man’s World for £15.

  9. Outdoor Jackets When outdoor jackets are worn to school, perhaps due to adverse weather, we expect pupils to wear black jackets only. They should be plain and have no obvious logos. This has always been and remains the uniform policy at Williamwood. Please note that we are able to provide every pupil with an individual locker. The lockers provide our pupils with somewhere to store their outside jackets.

  10. Girls’ Skirts Box-pleat skirt. Available in lengths 18, 20 and 22 inches. The skirt should be of an appropriate length (skirt should touch the top of the knee and not be lycra material). This skirt will cost approximately £16. Prices vary according to size.

  11. Girls’ Skirts Straight pencil skirt. Available in lengths 18, 20 and 22 inches. The skirt should be of an appropriate length (skirts should touch the top of the knee and not be lycra material). This skirt will cost approximately £14 . Prices vary according to size.

  14. School Shirts Traditional school shirts should be worn at all times. Fashion shirts should be avoided. Shirts should be tucked in.

  15. Jumpers/Cardigans If a pupil wishes to wear a jumper or cardigan, it should be plain black with a v-neck. The following should be avoided: • Hooded tops • Vest tops • Items with logos • Tracksuit tops

  16. Footwear Only black school shoes should be worn. No other form of footwear is acceptable.

  17. Uniform Store As a school, we have an extensive supply of additional uniform items in a variety of sizes. Pupils will be able to borrow items if they do not have the appropriate and acceptable uniform on. A text message will be sent to parents for information.

  18. Procurement The Education Authority carried out a process of procurement for the supply of blazers and skirts. Man’s World is now the preferred supplier for East Renfrewshire secondary schools.
