  4. A COMPREHENSIVE SOLAR ENERGY PLAN Analysis: Annual Usage, Facilities & Meters Town : 1,345,158 kWh + 450,000 WWTP upgrade = 1,795,158 Schools : 742,346 kWh Library & Arts Center : 50,915 kWh Total Demand : 2,588,419 kWh Combined System Size (DC) 2.16 MW Total Production : 2,592,000 kWh Energy Rate : 7.7¢/kWh + Averaged Transmission and Distribution Offset : 0.38¢/kWh Blended/average Rate : 8.01¢/kWh 4

  5. Solar Design Strategies for Net Metering, and Behind-the-Meter NH Net Metering: Allows power to the grid to • be “banked” by the utility and returned to you in the future – make hay while the sun shines… Favors Smaller (100 kW AC and less) with more favorable • offsets: Energy + Transmission + ¼ Distribution • Going “Behind-the-Meter: a direct connection and real-time supply when energy is produced and used simultaneously. Greatest savings available as it directly slows, stops, or reverses the meter. Excess is still exported to the net metered pool.

  6. POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENTS • No cost to Newport School District Norwich Technologies responsible for all operations and system maintenance • Effective Energy Rate of $0.077/kWh with 2% annual escalator • Projected resultant annual savings to Town: $3,254 (savings projected to increase due to future energy rates which are projected to rise faster than the 2% PPA escalator)
