To support a child’s progress in math, parents can…
I. A SK YOUR CHILDREN QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR C URRENT M ATH T OPIC ( S ) OF S TUDY Sample Questions/Prompts: What are you learning about in math class? Show me a problem that you solved today. How did you receive your final answer? Re-do that problem for me on another sheet of paper. What does that mean? How can you check that your answer is correct? What resources do you have to prepare for your assessment?
II. M ONITOR YOUR CHILD ’ S M ATH G RADE Pupilpath: ⚫ Pupilpath is the HCMS online gradebook which is updated weekly by teachers. ⚫ https://pupilpath.skedula.com/ Agendas: ⚫ Students should be writing their homework for each content area every day in their agendas. Check your child’s agenda to monitor their homework assignments on a daily basis.
III. U TILIZE FREE, ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR EXTRA PRACTICE IN MATH Learnzillion: In the search bar on the top of the page, type in your child’s math topic and grade or the standard being addressed. ( Example: “Linear Equations grade 8” ) ⚫ https://learnzillion.com/p/ Khan Academy: Have your child create a “learner” account. Then, in the search bar on the top of the page, type in your child’s math topic and grade or the standard being addressed. ⚫ https://www.khanacademy.org/

Multiple Entry Points for Special Education Students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) receive: Accommodations- changes in the learning environment that allow all students to learn the same content as their peers. Modifi fications- changes in what students are expected to learn and demonstrate. Annual Goals- a list of realistic and measurable academic and functional skills students can achieve by the end of the year. Least restrictive environment- taught in the same setting as students without IEPs, as much as possible, with supports and services needed to succeed. Personalized attention to their management needs.
