Agricultural Cooperatives’ Union – Aeghion S.A. (ACUA) collects, Packs and exports "Gulf" and "Provincial" Currant varieties and as a result it is the main Currant export company representing approximately 60% of the entire Greek annual production. Moreover, today ACUA manages approximately 90% of the "Vostizza P.D.O." high quality Currant. The Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) has been developed by the Sedex Associate Auditor Group (AAG), through multi- stakeholder consultation, to provide a best practice reference framework for social auditing and reporting. Method and set-up of research a) Literature review on occupational hazards, working conditions, quality of working life, women labour. b) Exploring statistical possibilities for the analysis of questionnaires. c) Investigation of datasets that could fulfil the scientific objectives of the project proposal. d) Review of policies according to Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit. Project achievements during visit a) In depth literature review on occupational hazards, working conditions, quality of working life, women labour. b) Formation of gender equality and female empowerment policy, corporate social responsibility policy, child labor policy, disciplinary policy, discrimination and harassment policy, environmental policy, training policy as well as work health and safey policy according to Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit for Agricultural Cooperatives’ Union – Aeghion S.A. Conclusions a) Although the percentage of highly skilled female labour force has been increased, it cannot be absorbed efficiently by recent market and new occupations. b) The development and application of the aforementioned policies in a company contributes to maintaining compliance with ethical trading requirements and socially sustainable production.
