Readiness We are well along in preparation: We have two different physics-based beam simulations and the standard GEANT4 detector simulation. Track, shower, and vertex finding algorithms are well advanced. We have two very different, but equally powerful, ν e identification algorithms, library matching and neural net, and a likelihood-based ν µ identification algorithm. We have had one successful data challenge and are planning another, which will include the full near detector- far detector extrapolation. We have established a set of rules for blind analyses. Plans for First Results Data up to the shutdown. Analysis complete November-December 2014 How much data? Beam projection is 1.9 x 10 20 pot. Average mass is 11 kt Efficiency = 80% for water leaks and other teething problems. = 1.2 x 10 20 pot equivalent or 20% of a nominal NO ν A year. In a nominal NO ν A year we expect about 15 ν e events x/÷ 2 depending on the physics parameters and about an equal background, half from misidentification and half from cosmic rays. So we would expect about 3 signal events with 3 background. Gary Feldman NO ν A Collaboration Meeting 4 April 2014 5
