Vaccine Access & Advocacy • 2014 – Walmart pharmacies in NV began offering vaccinations to all adults 18 years and older • 2015 – Age limit was lowered to include all children 8 years and older • 2015 – Began offering vaccination clinics to employers/organizations • 2016 – Created community outreach pharmacist position to increase vaccine clinics 2
Community Vaccination Clinics • Purpose: Increase vaccination rates by increasing access and ease • Vaccines provided by trained pharmacists • All vaccines offered to any person aged 8 years and older • Advocacy & Increased Access • All insurances accepted • Discounted cash prices • Flexibility – travel to location at any date/time • No fees for clinics to organization/employer • WebIZ records reviewed 3
Clinic Successes
Increased Vaccination Rates • 2016-2017 – 40 clinics/~3100 vaccinations • 2017-2018 – 72 clinics/~5500 vaccinations • Ability to negotiate discounted cash prices & accept most insurance coverages • Work with many organizations/employers – Washoe County School District – Truckee Meadows Community College – UNR Upward Bound – City of Reno – City of Sparks – Trex – Grand Sierra Resort – Sands Regency – Gold Dust West 5

Clinic Challenges
Challenges in Vaccine Administration • Payment for vaccinations – Uninsured – Low income • Education/Advocacy – Resistance to vaccination – Vaccine Myths • Age Limit – Corporate policy limits administration to 8+ years of age • Planning – Corporate contracting, supplies, storage, estimate of attendance • Post-Clinic – Processing of paperwork at the pharmacy is very timely 9
