  1. The Gospel of Jesus Christ and me

  2. The Gospel of Jesus Christ Who is Jesus Christ and what is special about him? 1. What is the gospel of Jesus Christ? 3. What has it all got to do with me? 4.

  3. Jesus Christ – who is he? Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 1v18) And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Matthew 3v16-17)

  4. The record of Mark, Luke & John The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Mark 1v1) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (Luke 1v30-32) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1v14) ‘And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God’ (John 1v34)

  5. Jesus is the Son of Man Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he (Jesus) also himself likewise took part of the same…For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. (Hebrews 2v14 &16) When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? (Matthew 16v13) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16v16)

  6. Jesus is a Prophet And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, Jesus said, As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. (Luke 21v4) And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. (Luke 21v24)

  7. Jesus is a King He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. (John 18v37)

  8. Jesus is:  Son of God (conceived by the Holy Spirit)  Son of Man (born of a human mother)  A prophet of the future  A King of the Dynasty of David

  9. What is the gospel of Jesus Christ? The first mentions of the world ‘gospel’: And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. (Matthew 4v23) And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. (Matthew 9v35) And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Matthew 24v14)

  10. More detail  Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, (Mark 1v14) The Gospel of Jesus Christ is about a Kingdom – The Kingdom of God

  11. What is the Kingdom of God? He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (Luke 1v32) And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD, over Israel. (1 Chronicles 28v5)

  12. The Kingdom of God (On earth) Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. (Isaiah 35v5-7)

  13. The Kingdom of God (On earth) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21v4)

  14. The Gospel of Salvation God gave mankind one commandment Mankind disobeyed God God pronounced that mankind would die as a result of their sin As a result, all men die

  15. All mankind deserve death For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6v23) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Romans 5v12)

  16. Jesus died to take away our sins  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4v15) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6v23) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6v63)

  17. When will the kingdom come? This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy 3v1-4)

  18. What about the people who were dead before Jesus came? The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. (Matthew 22v23-32)

  19. What about the people who have died since Jesus came? Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. (John 11v14) Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

  20. The resurrection from the dead Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

  21. A Summary so far:  The Kingdom of God will be ruled over by Jesus Christ  The Kingdom will never be destroyed  There will be no sorrow/crying/pain in the Kingdom  The Kingdom will be inhabited by immortal beings and resurrected individuals  The Kingdom will be on earth (Rev 5v11)

  22. What about me?  3 Types of people: Those who will take up the opportunity now. 3. Those who will wait for the Kingdom to come before 5. doing anything about it. Those who would rather do their own thing and forget 7. about God.

  23. Those who wait for the last minute Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7v21)

  24. Jesus wants a response to him For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. (Matthew 16v25) But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 10v30-31)
