Why should we care about what Jesus has to say about the future?
KEY THOUGHT: The more I understand and believe what Jesus teaches about the future, the easier it will be to endure.
MARK 13:13 And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
OUR CULTURE: This life is all there is so get what you can now.
JESUS: This life is not all there is, therefore, it is worth it to obey Him even when it is hard.
MARK 13:9-13 “But you, be on your guard! They will hand you over to sanhedrins, and you will be flogged in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of Me, as a witness to them. 10 And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations.
MARK 13:9-13 So when they arrest you and hand you over, don’t worry beforehand what you will say. On the contrary, whatever is given to you in that hour—say it. For it isn’t you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
MARK 13:9-13 Then brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents and put them to death. And you will be hated by everyone because of My name. But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.

MARK 13:1-2 As Jesus was leaving the Temple that day, one of his disciples said, “Teacher, look at these magnificent buildings! Look at the impressive stones in the walls.” Jesus replied, “Yes, look at these great buildings. But they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!”

PREDICTION 1: The Temple will be completely destroyed
WHY WAS THIS SO SHOCKING?
The temple was huge physically.
“The massive stones and buildings of the temple complex were truly impressive. Herod’s temple had been under construction for almost 50 years, and the Jewish historian Josephus said some of the stones were 60 feet long. Archaeologists have found stones 42 feet long, 11 feet high, and 14 feet deep, weighing over a million pounds.”
The temple was huge spiritually.
Why was this going to be destroyed? What is the significance?
MARK 13:3-4 Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him privately and asked him, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to be fulfilled?”
